Pakistan has announced strict new measures for citizens deported from the UAE, GCC nations, Europe, and other countries. Under the new policy, their passports will be cancelled upon arrival, and their names will be added to a passport control list for five years, effectively barring them from international travel during that period.
In simple words, if someone get deported from the UAE or GCC for any reason such as Overstay, Absconding Case, theft or any finance related cases will also get 5 year ban on International Travel from Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior with FIR on his/her name plus passport cancellation in the system.
The deported person will not be able to travel or get another passport for the next 5 years.
The decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. According to state-run PTV News, the government will also file FIR (First Information Reports) against deported individuals. The move comes after several countries reported Pakistani nationals violating local laws, including overstaying visas and engaging in illegal activities such as begging.
Crackdown on Illegal Activities Abroad
Thousands of Pakistanis have been deported from Gulf and European nations in recent months, with Saudi Arabia alone expelling over 5,000 individuals for residency violations. The Pakistani government has formed a federal committee to address the issue and prevent further deportations.
Pakistan has a large overseas diaspora, with millions working in the GCC, Europe, the US, and other regions. Many rely on remittances, making legal employment abroad crucial for the country’s economy. However, illegal activities by some nationals have raised concerns, prompting stricter enforcement.
Warnings Against Fraudulent Job Schemes
The Pakistani missions in the UAE have also cautioned job seekers against fraudulent employment offers. Last week, the embassy and consulates advised citizens to verify job advertisements carefully and avoid traveling on tourist visas for employment purposes.
Recently, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, urged expatriates to comply with visa regulations. He emphasized that visitors must have proper documentation, including confirmed hotel bookings, return tickets, and sufficient funds, to avoid legal issues.

Impact on Future Travel
The new measures aim to deter illegal migration and protect Pakistan’s international reputation. However, the five-year travel ban could significantly impact deported individuals and their families, cutting off potential employment opportunities abroad.
As Pakistan strengthens its oversight, expatriates are being urged to adhere to host countries’ laws to avoid severe consequences, including permanent travel restrictions. The government’s actions highlight the growing challenges of managing labor migration while combating illegal activities that harm bilateral relations.
For now, the policy serves as a stern warning: compliance with foreign laws is no longer optional, failure to do so could result in long-term repercussions.
